My Reality

Sometimes, the reality of what I get to do smacks me in the face and it completely humbles me and blows my mind all at the same time.

This morning I had the privilege of being in worship with a group of people who spent the last year traveling the world to share Jesus.

Eighteen of those people were mine. I got to lead them for the first five months of their journey. As I stood at the back of the room, seeing these incredible men and women pour their hearts out in worship to the only One who is worthy of it, I couldn’t hold back the tears.

To see the transformation they’ve walked through, the growth they’ve experienced, the things they’ve learned, the lives – all around the globe – they’ve touched that will be forever changed, the comforts they willingly gave up to pursue the things that matter more… all of it culminating in these moments of worship. That’s what it’s all about, that’s what it’s all for. All to bring praise to the King.

And to think, He allows me to be a part of it!?! That King who is worthy of ALL praise invites me to do what He’s doing with Him. How completely overwhelming!

Over the last two years, I’ve had the honor of leading around 160 racers.

That, alone, blows my mind.

But when one of them walks up to me and simply says, “I’m out of the ice cube!” Immediately my mind goes back to a conversation a few months earlier when that same friend shared a feeling of being in an ice cube – alone. cold. numb. stuck. – but wanting out. I got to share encouragement and truth as the Spirit gave it, but mostly just listened.

See, that’s what I do. I’m not here to fix anyone or impart my own infinite wisdom. I get to listen to them, listen to the Spirt, and point them back to Him in the best way I know how.

And when I hear the excitement of people finding their way out of the ice cube, I know, for now, there’s nothing else I’d rather do!

My squads…4th D, S, Z, 5th D… I am so, so grateful for you, for the things you’ve allowed me to be a part of and for the things you have taught me!

L Squad, it’s going to be a good year!
